In 2022, Centro Fox, UC San Diego Extension and the UCI Center for Educational Partnerships launched a Borderless Leadership initiative. This initiative aims to bring together young leaders from the U.S. and Mexico to discuss critical binational issues and solutions. By engaging across borders, this initiative will equip the next generation of leaders with the knowledge and sense of purpose needed to lead our nations into a more just future. An annual Borderless Leadership Conference will promote a deep understanding of critical issues affecting both Mexican and U.S. society, build leadership capacity, and inspire students to deepen their global engagement.
UC PromISE will partner with the initiative in its inaugural year to host a conference on the long-standing issue of Latin American migration from, within, and through Central America, Mexico, and the United States. The 2022 Borderless Leadership Conference will be held in Guanajuato, Mexico from June 20-22, 2022. UC PromISE will also support the professional development of 10 Borderless leadership fellows, emerging scholars across the University of California who demonstrate an interest and commitment to address critical binational issues.
